What's New In Jess' . . .Closet | The Perfect Courts

Hey guys,

I've found another beauty. I have a thing for shoes, heels, trainers, the lot. When I was doing my daily browse on the internet and having a look through all the stores online, I found these amazing heels on ASOS.

I saw them in cobalt blue first and featured them in a post and I instantly fell in love with them. I soon discovered that they were from New Look and I rushed over to the New Look website to if they were there, they were.

The next day I went into New Look and I was happy to see them among the other shoes. I tried on a size 6 in the blue first and they were so big so I opted for the 5 which fit great but I wasn't sure about the blue so I tried on the black. I loved them. I was in New Look for a good 15mins trying on shoes.
I'm so happy I left New Look with them.

They are mainly suede with the heel being suede also and then the straps are leather. I love me a t-bar pair of heels, I think they are so flattering. The fact that it has double straps is even better. They were £20 but I have student discount so I got them £17.98 which isn't a big difference but it's still a discount! Who doesn't love a discount?

I'd been on the hunt for some court shoes for a long time and I'm glad I didn't just go and buy a random pair because I've found the perfect pair. I tried them on with a pair of jeans and then a dress and they just go with everything. I can't wait to show you guys how I wear them.

And now my hunt for a pair of nude courts begins!

MUA Pro Base Review

Hi my lovely readers!
Hope you're all well, today I have a review you!
They are 2 products from MUA and they are both from the Pro Base range. The first one is the Fixing Mist and the second is the Primer

I'm going to start off with the Fixing Mist. I'm not happy at all. I spent £5 on this fixing mist and it doesn't work for me.
I have oily skin so I thought picking up a fixing mist would help keep my make up in place longer than it does with just my powder.
It says it's supposed to hold your make up in place for 8 hours, in my case, my make up was sliding off my face by the 4th hour. This made me so angry the 2nd time I used it. The first time, I thought it may have been my moisturiser or primer that was affecting the way it works but no.
It even says 'apply your make up like usual' so I don't understand why what I'm wearing on my face would affect it's job.
Not only did it not hold my make up in place, it made my face look blotchy, grey and like I had no make up on.
I've tried it about 4 times and it's always been the same result. I'm not happy MUA. I'm willing to give it another go but not in the near future.
However, with it being an appalling fixing mist for my whole face, I do spray it onto my eye brushes to make my eyeshadows more pigmented and it works quite well in that sense.

Now onto a happy note, the Primer. My sister bought me this for Christmas and I've been using it ever since. I apply moisturiser and then the primer 5 mins later, I apply it mainly on my eyelids, T-Zone and cheeks, basically my oily spots. If my face is feeling oily all over, I apply it generously all over.
I then apply my make up normally.
My make up sits so much better on my face, the primer gives my skin that velvety smooth feeling which is the perfect canvas for any base product.
My make up doesn't slide as quickly as it usually does, probably keeping it in place for about 2 hours extra without applying powder. I think it was around £4 but I'm not sure as it was a a gift, it's a great product and definitely would repurchase it.

Overall, I think MUA do great products but the Fixing Mist was a real let down and I'm really disappointed that it didn't work for me. I really want to give it another go but I'm just not confident to use a product I know will mess up my make up. Maybe I'll test it again at home. I'll let you know how I get on but for now, I won't be recommending it to anyone. Let me know if you've tried it and what you're experience was like!
The Primer is a great product and is definitely something I'd recommend to you all. I use it on a daily basis and there isn't a day that make up doesn't sit nice when I'm wearing it.

If you've tried any of these products, I'd love to know how you got on,
thanks for reading!

What's New in Jess' . . . Closet | feat.LOVE

What do we have here? A package you see.
I'm starting a new series called 'What's New In Jess' . . .', it can either be closet, make up drawers or room.
It's basically a haul but I'm bored of calling it hauls so I've renamed it for the new year (the christmas haul doesn't count!)

So to kick start the new series, I'm showing 2 pieces I got from www.inlovewithfashion.com.
I've done a few posts before, here on the blog on InLoveWithFashion and I've always loved the pieces they have on their site.
Being a LOVE blogger, I had store credit to spend so not having to browse too hard because I had an idea of what I wanted to get, I picked out 2 amazing pieces. They were both on sale and I'm happy I was able to get my hands on them.

The first item is the Ivory City dress, it is on sale at the moment for £10. I don't many buy white clothes because of the fact that I'm clumsy however I'm really starting to fall in with white clothing. This dress is the start of many white items. It's very flattering and the pleats are amazing! It's a great staple piece to have in your wardrobe, it can be dressed up or down. I'm definitely going to be dressing it up, I'm not sure where I will be wearing it to but I'll find somewhere. What do you guys think about this dress, win or bin?

The second piece is a kimono. I've wanted a kimono for the longest time and I've finally got one.
I love the dip-dye fringe detail on the front, it adds that edge to a simple black kimono. I love the fact that it's chiffon, great for Summer or if you're going on holiday. I'm so excited to wear it, a crop top and some high waisted jeans or shorts would look amazing with it. This beauty is only £19, I'm in love!

I can't wait to show you guys how I style these pieces, if you've got any ideas on how to style them, leave a comment for me, I'd love to know!

Welcome To The Club

Hey guys,

If you follow me on twitter, you'd see my endless tweets about OOTD pictures and British weather. 3 days straight it's rained here in London and it's just messed up my blogging plans!

So having said that I decided to show you all something new of mine.
I am now a glasses wearer. I never thought I'd be but turns I have to be.

I am longsighted and I only need them for when I'm concentrating e.g on the laptop, using the sewing machine etc. I noticed I was getting headaches/migraines whilst doing these things and it was because as a longsighted person, my eyes were having to do more work to see things closer to me.
So that's the reason why I wear glasses now.

Lips | Rimmel Moisture Renw Lipstick Glam Plum Fulham

I chose a pair I thought framed my face, it was between these ones and a black pair, it took me ages to decide, thankfully, my mum and sister were there to help out. The pair I went with aren't completely black which looked a little softer on my face. I'm not going to be wearing them 24/7 but when I do wear them, I want to be comfortable and confident whilst wearing them and these I feel comfortable in and I feel confident when I put them on.

What do you guys think of my glasses?
Do you wear glasses? If you do, do you alter your make up?

eBay Brushes

Bonjour my lovely readers!

It's no secret here on FashionSquash that I love eBay, I posted a haul in the past where most of the purchases were from eBay. As I type, I'm looking to order an ID chain off there, no joke!

Late last year, I went on eBay-brush-buying frenzy and ended up with 5 amazing brushes in the space of 2 weeks. The great thing about eBay is that the price makes you feel less guilty about buying.

When you think about eBay, you automatically put cheap and rubbish quality in a bag with it. That is not the case with these brushes, I can tell you that. I didn't pay anymore than £2 for any of these brushes, you'd be surprised at how amazing the quality of these are. If you've tried any brushes from eBay, I'd love to know if you thought they were amaze-balls!

Below are all the brushes I purchased! I'll try and leave links to all the brushes.

The Flat Top Foundation Brush. This one was in with others as a Real Techniques dupe, I love my RT buffing brush so I highly doubted that the ones on eBay would live up to the standards. I was wrong, this brush is one of my favourites, I use it whenever I can, (when it's not dirty basically) and it's the perfect brush for blending in that foundation, it's exactly the same size as the RT Buffing Brush, the only difference is that it's flat.

Another Flat Top Foundation Brush, this one is a little bit larger than the previous one and is great for quickly applying foundation, I do use it for powder more than foundation. It's not as dense as the RT brushes however it's still an amazing and versatile brush.

The Round Top Foundation Brush. I use this one for foundation, powder and blusher. It has the same density as the previous flat top brush as they are being sold by the same seller, the only difference is the clour of the brush. I'd recommend this one if you're after an all round amazing brush.

The Blending Brush, both me and my sister have this brush and we have both agreed that this is a great brush. It is quite big for an eye blending brush but it good for when you're in a rush and want to cover a large area, quickly.
It's also a good brush to use to blend in concealer or highlighter. Definitely recommend this one if you're after a good quality blending brush to add to the collection.

Lastly, another Blending Brush but a small one. This one is evidently smaller than the other and is great for using in the crease. It's the perfect size to use in the crease and also if you have smaller lids you can use it as a blending brush.

Hope you guys liked my eBay brushes low-down and hopefully I've enticed you all to head over to eBay and stock up on some brushes!

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo | Review

Hey guys,
I have a skincare review for you today. I haven't done a review in a while and my drawers are overflowing with things to review.

Everyone loves a good skincare product, everyone loves one that makes their skin oh so smooth and velvety. I can honestly, honestly tell you guys, the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo is that product.

It takes me ages to see if a product really works for my skin, I have troublesome oily skin that does what it likes, when it likes, so finding a good product is hard.

When I asked on twitter during a #bbloggers chat, what moisturiser you'd recommend for oily skin, 75% said 'Effaclar Duo' and I thank you all because you've all helped transform my skin.

After deciding I wanted to try it out, I headed over to the La Roche Posay website and was able to get a sample.
On arrival, I opened up the package and voila, there was the sample and they even kindly sent me a voucher with it.
Usually when you see things like vouchers with samples, you think maybe this is a way of swaying you towards liking the product however the voucher ran out a few days and I'm still adamant on buying the product. Though it would've been useful to use the voucher before it ran out haha

I've been using it nearly everyday for the past month and you may think how could I have possibly use that sample for a month but you'd surprised how far a little bit can go. The first day I made the mistake of using a little too much, mind you, I woke up with lovely smooth skin the next day.

It says to use it morning and night but I just used it at night when I'd taken off my make up. It also says you can use it with or without moisturiser, I used it with my moisturiser. I applied the Effaclar Duo first, in places I know needed it (my T-Zone and cheeks), let it sit for 10 mins and then used my moisturiser on top.

I can definitely see a difference, especially on my cheeks. I had huge pores on my cheeks, chin and nose and blemishes on my forehead and cheeks. The have noticeably reduced and my skin looks much smoother and clearer. I have also noticed a difference in how oily my skin is, my make up is sliding about as much as it used to, I'm only having to lightly powder my face once during a long day.
Smooth skin definitely makes your make up look better also and the way my make up sits on my face is clearly better, everything blends in better. I'm just in love with this product.

I'd really recommend this product to anyone that has troublesome skin, I know what works for me may not work for you but it's definitely worth a try. I hope I can get my hands on the full size soon so I know I can always use it. I don't usually get excited about skincare products but this is one to be excited about!

Have any of your tried the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo? What was your experience like?
Love it or hate it? I'd love to know

Primark S/S14 Collection

Hello my lovelies,

Well, will you have a look at those amazing pieces above, they do not look like pieces that would be sold in Primark!
Primark are definitely upping their game and I have to say they are doing it very well. There are about 100 pieces they've let us have a look at and they are all gorgeous pieces. If you want to have a look at the collection just head over to LOOK magazine (click here), if you do have a look, let me know what you think about the collection!

I've picked out my top 5 pieces from the collection! I will go into Primark every 4 days to make sure I get my hands on these items.
Below are the prices of each of the pieces from my top 5:

Chiffon Back Sleeveless Jacket, £15

 Crepe Zip Front Jumpsuit, £17
 Mesh Insert T-Shirt Dress, £15
 Lazer Cut Cuff, £3
 Baroque Pencil Skirt, £12

Can you believe those prices?! I'm already thinking of ways to style these pieces. The zip front jumpsuit would look amazing with a pair of strappy sandals, definitely considering it as my birthday outfit (if I get my hands on it!) The sleeveless jacket is lovely too, I can see myself wearing it with a pair of high waisted shorts and a crop top with a pair of trainers.
I think my favourite has to be the mesh insert t-shirt dress, I will cry my eyes out if I don't get it.
Look at how gorgeous it is, you can not walk past it in Primark and not buy it, especially when it's £15.
I'm not sure how I'd style it yet but I'd definitely dress it down.

As you can probably tell guys, I'm really excited and ready to shop haha!
I'd love to know what your favourite pieces are!

Thanks for reading!

NOTD | Pink Flamingo

Barry M Nail Paint - Pink Flamingo 305

Hey guys,

At the end of last year, I did a post on gifts and I spoke about how gifts don't have to material things.
So, my mum thought it would be nice to give me a mini manicure, she got out her mani/pedi kit (that she hides!) and did my nails.
I'm not going to lie, my mum did them very well (boy, she would be happy to hear that!) and I was so happy to prance about with my pink nails.

I've said in a previous post that I'm really loving Barry M nail polishes, it is one of the best nail polish brands I've used and I'm not holding back on spending a little fortune on my Barry M nail polish collection.

I'm not a huge fan of pink on my nails but I quite like the one I chose to wear, it changes shades in different lighting, in one it looks neon pink, in the other it looks coral, which I love!

It lasted the whole week, I usually expect my nails to chip on the 3rd day but these didn't chip until the 5th day. My mum did use a base coat, 2 coats of the nail polish and then a top coat which is why it lasted so long.

Thank you Barry M (and mama) for giving me beautiful, pink nails!
What are your opinions on Barry M nail polishes, love them, hate them?
Thanks for reading guys!

NEW HAIR

Hello everyone,

As you can see, my hair is completely different, once again!
I really wanted a change, I love the short hair but I wanted a break from straightening my hair everyday.
With the curly hair, I can just wake up and separate the twists I do every night to maintain the curl.

This hair has definitely got the wow factor if you don't see me very often, depending on how you separate the curls depends on how big the hair gets.
I'm not sure how long I'll have this hair in but I'm definitely going to enjoy it while it still lasts as I don't have curly hair very often!

What are your opinions on my new hair? Any questions? I'd love to answer them!

Winter Lookbook

Hi guys,

My long awaited winter lookbook is finally here, I love fashion during winter, there's so much to wear!
My lookbook is based on what I'd wear on a daily basis, for example, to college.
Jumpers are great to have in the wardrobe, they're easy to style, can be worn with pretty much anything and to anywhere if styled right.

Here are a few looks I thought I 'd share with you guys, most of the things I'm wearing were Christmas presents so I found alternatives for them!

Hope you like my lookbook,

Jesslyn
High Waisted Skinny Jeans Primark | Quilted Jumper (not sure, was a xmas pressie) similar | Coat Primark | Boots eBay

Jumper (a xmas pressie) similar | Cosy Leggings (a xmas pressie) similar | Wellies Aldi | Jacket Primark

Shirt Primark | Pinafore New Look (old) | Jumper Primark (sale) | Coat Primark | Shoes Nike Satires

Christmas Haul!

Yep, a christmas haul, I'm so not up to date, I completely forgot to post my haul and then I remembered I couldn't because there were a few pieces from eBay that hadn't arrived yet!
I didn't buy much because I got quite a few things as Christmas presents and I'm also trying to saving up for driving lessons so most of money went towards that!

Skirt Asos | Quilted Jacket Primark (sale) | High Waisted Skinny Jeans Primark | Jumper Primark | Sheer Blouse eBay | Electrical Facial Cleansing Brush eBay

Primark have some great bits on sale right now, if you haven't taken a trip, I'd really recommend you do!
There were so many jumpers on sale, it took me ages to decide on one and I definitely want to go back for more!
The high waisted skinny jeans were on my wishlist for ages and I finally got them and I love them!

Lastly, I really wanted an electrical facial cleansing brush and I found a 5 in 1 one on eBay and it's amazing, can't wait to review it!

And this is some of what I got for Christmas, I didn't really want to go into detail of what I got as most of it I don't actually know where they are from! So I just thought I'd show pictures of most things in 2 pictures (I opened them on 2 different days)

Hope you guys liked my christmas haul and what I got for christmas post!
