Day In The Life Of A Fashion Student #2

If you missed the first segment of my fashion student life, definitely check it out as no day is ever the same!

This post is slightly different to the first one.
As someone wanting to pursue a career in the fashion industry, I also embark on my own things to do other than studying Fashion Design. My blog is one venture but I also love styling, photography etc.

I recently got the opportunity to be an assistant/stylist on a photoshoot for a website launching soon.
I can't say too much about the website or company until the launch so I'll just give you a low down on the day.

The day started off early with the shoot starting at 10am.
I had to do a Tesco run to get some bits for the team to eat which ending up in me buying a lot so I had to get a cab to the location. The struggle was so real!

I arrived at the studio, THRDSSTUDIO, it is a great studio, the likes of  Lethal Bizzle, ODF Clothing and Kendrick Lamar have used this studio and I can see why! I'll definitely keep this studio in mind , if and when I want to do any shoots in the future.
But anyway, the make up artist had already started doing a base on one of the models and the photographer was setting up her bits.
Unfortunately, the lady with all the clothing, shoes and accessories hadn't arrived yet so we were all in limbo. When she finally did arrived, I got cracking with the steaming and hanging up the clothes and laying out the shoes, ready to be styled.

We started off with campaign/lookbook outfits and it took us ages, changing outfits, changing make up, it was a lot.
The models worked so well together during the campaign shoot, it was amazing to see the chemistry and how easy it was for them to just pose together.

After hours of shooting the campaign, it was around 4pm at this point, it was time to take product shoots for each item. Front. Side. Back. For each garment.
It was so long winded but it had to be done!

We finished shooting around 9pm and I was exhausted.
Sitting down for only 5mins throughout the whole day was a killer, I've never been on set of a photoshoot like this before.

It was such a great experience, widening my styling knowledge is something I definitely want to do along with fashion design.
I'm so glad I got the opportunity to get a taste of what's it like, I'd love to more photoshoots where I'm taking a back seat instead of being the designer all the time. It was very different to be on the stylist end of things.
It's great to get a feel of different sectors!

So that was my day guys, I always enjoy what I do even when I complain about how tiring it is.
Getting experience in the fashion industry is a must for any young person trying to get out there, I suggest you get experience in any sector to build your portfolio!

OOTD | All Black Friday ft Boohoo

Christmas is fast approaching and with that comes shopping and one of the craziest shopping days of the year, Black Friday.
 Shops around the world introduce crazy deals for the day and consumers go crazy, shopping, literally.
I've seen some outrageous things over the years that people do, just for the sake of deals!
I, for one, will stick to Cyber Monday haha

However, Black Friday cannot go unnoticed and Boohoo invited me to celebrate the day with them by putting together an all black outfit!

Ma-huuuu-sive trainer girl and yep, a new pair was due!

You guys always see my new shoe purchases and 80% of the time, it's a pair of trainers. 

I have a nice range of trainers and it was time for something different to add to the collection. 

The Nike Air Max 90. 

These are trainers that I didn't think I'd go for, I had tried them on years ago but weren't feeling them at all.

I walked into JD Sports last week and I saw the black pair and tried them on again and I really, really liked them and then I saw the BLUE.

I was sold!

I love trainers that I don't really see anyone else wear so it was easy to go for the blue, the black were too basic for me.

They're so comfortable and I don't understand why I didn't like them before. I've worn them twice already and to the gym, in under a week haha

They were £60 which is more than I usually pay for trainers because I buy Juniors however Air Max are usually more expensive than other trainers anyway.

But that's it guys, you'll be seeing them in OOTD's soon!

REVIEW | MUA Power Pout Acrylic

In my previous post of these liquid lipsticks, I mentioned that I was on the hunt for some pigmented, long lasting lip products and I had finally found some.

MUA offer the Power Pout in many shades and I chose to go for two very different shades, a nude and a vampy purple.

First off, I want to say that these liquid lipsticks are not matte, I bought them thinking they were but they are in between a gloss and a matte. More of a lipstick formula.

It's not drying at all, in fact, very moisturising, I prepared myself for any drying effect because I originally thought it was matte.

They have a doe foot applicator which makes the application so much easier especially for lip products so pigmented. The only reason I don't like them is the fact the colour of the product starts to change a little when you apply the product over a liner, which happens with all my lip products with a doe foot. I hate it but that's just me, not the fault of the product and I wouldn't stop using a product because of that.

I love the packaging, it's very MAC-esque, very simple and sophisticated. MUA have always had nice packaging which is always great for an affordable brand.

 UNWRAPPED 

Unwrapped is a pinky nude shade, I struggled with this one because it was a weird shade for my skin tone. So I tried it with a few lip liners before I settled for a reddish-brown liner that complimented it and my skin.

I'd usually where it on simple make up day, it's very subtle (when I wear it right) and I love its staying power.

 POTENCY 

Potency is a deep purple shade, very vampy and perfect for A/W! I am also wearing a lip liner that is slightly darker, it doesn't need a liner but it just helps stop the lippie from bleeding out.

Again, lasts very long, I re-apply maybe once, if that, throughout a long day.

So that's my review on MUA's Power Pout Acrylic, I really like them, I've been using them non-stop since I got them because they're easy to apply and they last long. They're only £3.50 a piece so that's super affordable for such a great product. 

If you're looking for a matte lip product, this one isn't for you but I'd still recommend you get at least one for the collection!

OOTD | Epitome of Winter Dress Up

Winter is catching up to us and I hope you've all brought out your winter gear!

I'm a huge knitwear and jackets/coats person so I always look forward to A/W. 

Ardell Demi Lashes

You know when you're on the hunt for some natural looking lashes and then you finally find them?

Yup!

My sister actually introduced the Demi Wispies to me even after seeing many MUA's, bloggers and YouTubers, I only truly loved them when I saw them on her.

Loads of brands offer the 'Demi Wispies' but Ardell was the brand I so happened to want to try out. In my local hair and beauty shop, they offer loads of different Ardell lashes but unfortunately didn't have the Demi Wispies so I settled for the Demi's. 

They are somewhat similar but the Demi's are not as 'wispy'.

I love them even though they're not the Wispies, they're very natural looking, not too heavy, not too long. 

The Wispies have a bit of a messiness to them that's why I know I will like them better as they'd look even more natural.

The band is very thin and they're actually very easy to apply.

You'll probably see them in action in my next FOTD so keep a look out!
