What's New in Jess' . . . Make Up Drawers? | MUA Mosaic Bronzer

MUA Mosaic Bronzer - Natural Glow Shade 1

Hi guys,

I'm actually trying to multi-task, type up this post and work on my sketchbook. Haha it's not really working to be honest!

*30mins later*

Well, now my blog has my full attention, I thought I'd introduce you all to my new make up buy.

I'd been on the lookout for a bronzer when I started obsessing over highlighting and the 'minimalistic' make up look.
Lately I've been doing my make up differently, focusing more on flawless looking skin and highlighting.
When I start obsessing and changing the way I do my make up, I watch a million and one make up tutorials, one of my favourites were by Gracie from Ugly Face of Beauty and Lauren Curtis (definitely check them both out, they're amaaaazing!) Anyway, they both kept on mentioning bronzer, so I knew I had to get me one.

I found MUA's Mosiac Bronzer when I went to Superdrug, a couple of days ago. I fell in love instantly, one because it was a bronzer I was looking for and two because it was only £2.50!

I've used it twice and I'm absolutely loving it, I also used it for my sister's prom make up and boy, was she glowing?!
I never used to be a bronzer fan and never really saw the point of it if you had contour and highlighting products but I've been converted.

I love this bronzer so far and can't wait to get some more use out of it!

What are your favourite bronzing products? Have you tried the Mua Mosaic Bronzer?
I'd love to know!

OOTD | The Birkenstock Dupes #1

Top, Jeans (DIY), Sandals All Primark | Watch eBay
Anklet and Bracelets Camden Market

Hey guys,

Another OOTD! I've been loving snapping pictures of my outfits recently. I've been much more effort even it is just a casual college outfit.

This outfit was just something I threw together to quickly head to the nail shop with my sister.
These DIY ripped jeans are giving me life this Summer, they add so much to an outfit, my outfit would've looked pretty boring if my jeans weren't ripped up.

And now, my new loves. The Birkenstock dupes.
I got my pair from Primark which were only £4, they're patent black and I lurveeee them!

I think I'm going to do a series of OOTD's wearing my sandals because they're very marmite and many might find it hard to wear.
So look out for those!

NEW HAIR & NEW NAILS

Hi guys,

Got a double whammy for you guys, new me is back!

I did my hair on Sunday morning and since then I've been rocking a curly, red bob.
I really wanted to keep the short hair, I think during Summer I'm more drawn to shorter hair/bobs.
My last hairstyle was an blonde ombre bob so transforming to this look was completely different.

I didn't actually choose the colour and was going to stick to the blonde but the bestie said why don't I go red.
So I did!
I always do my hair myself because I hate people touching my hair. This hairstyle is a full sew-in with no leave out. My hair was attacked by the straighteners during the last hairstyle so I didn't want to leave any hair out.

I'm going to enjoy rocking this hairstyle for the next couple of weeks. It looks so summery, I love it!

Now onto the nails.
I actually got my nails done today, I couldn't decide what design I wanted but I knew I wanted them to be mainly lilac. I went onto Pinterest to find inspiration and I decided to go with a couple of gold nails along with the lilac.
I kept the shape the same because nothing can make me depart from the almond nails except for absolute boredom.

So that's my new hair and my new nails for you all!
Would love to know your opinions on my hair, it's very different so I'd love to know what you think.

OOTD | Smart but Casual

Cami New Look (old) | Trousers Jane Norman | Blazer H&M | Sunglasses Primark
Skater Shoes Topshop | Bag Peacocks

Hey everyone,

Yes, another OOTD, the sun's shining in London and I'm taking full advantage.
I love dressing up in Autumn/Winter because of the layers and jackets are my ultimate fave but when it comes to Spring/Summer, I just love the styling and the accessories.

Picking out what to wear has actually been quite fun recently, exploring the wardrobe and pulling out the Summer bits is really refreshing.

The outfit was actually for my assessment/presentation at college so I wanted to look smart but not overly stiff, if you get what I mean. I'm a casual dresser anyway so it's so easy for me to make an outfit look casual.

This OOTD is actually a farewell to my ombre bob, I've loved having blonde hair, well ginger, I don't know what colour it is but I've loved it. Short hair suits me so my next hairstyle will be short but completely different.
Not going to spoil it for you guys because a post will be going up soon so keep your eyes peeled.

I must say, I love these Topshop skater shoes, they're super hard to break in but they look amazing.

Hope you guys are all well, I'm super stressed at the moment, I've got so much to do and my brain's just shutting down. Absolutely exhausted, I can't wait for this week to be over!

MUA Pro Base Fixing Mist | Revisited and Reviewed

Hey guys,

Long time, no blog. I know, I know, bad blogger *slaps wrists*!
But I'm back, sort of, with a review for you all.

Now if you've been reading my blog for a while, you would've read my review on MUA Pro Base products (the primer and fixing mist). If you haven't read it, here's the review.

Well, I wasn't best pleased with the fixing mist and I said 'I wouldn't be using it in the near future'.
Near future has been and gone and I've tried the fixing mist again.

I'm not using it in the way it's supposed to be used. Instead of spraying it over my perfectly placed make up, I use it underneath. Ta dah!
That was the solution for me, it definitely wasn't working the way it was meant to be used so I had to think of something and it worked.

I apply it after applying my moisturiser and the MUA Pro Base primer. After letting it settle into my skin, I apply my make up like usual.

It works so much better for me, it lasts around 6 hours before I have to apply some powder to my T-Zone. Being incredibly oily, that's rather good, to not have to touch up for 6 whole hours.
It's not the 8 hours promised on the bottle but someone who has normal skin would probably get that result.

I must say, I don't completely hate this product, there was so much hatred before but it is one of my daily essentials now and it does work much better at this point in time.

I'm not sure about re-purchasing yet, I do have my eye on the MAC Fix+ so that may take it's place!

What do you guys think about MUA's Fixing Mist, good or bad experience, I'd love to know!

OOTD & Get Ready With Jess

Shirt New Look | Jeans Primark (DIY) | Cardigan Primark | Sunglasses and Purse Primark
Trainers Nike Air Force 1

Hey everyone,
Yay, I managed to shoot my OOTD outside for once, I finally got my sister to take her job and shoot my OOTDs for me.

I'd say this is a very different OOTD, I filmed a 'Get Ready with Me' as well so you guys get to see how I do my everyday make up and quick hair do.
It took ages to edit and it was quite a fun video to film, weird to see myself do something from start to finish. I really understand where youtubers come from when they struggle to get a video up.

Anyway, this outfit was a really casual one, me and my mum went to view a house and I just wanted to chuck something on really quickly. It was quite warm that day so I underestimated how hot it was going to be when I threw on the cardi. By the way, guys, I love my new sunglasses, love!

Being the naughty blogger I am, I DIY'd my jeans and didn't take any pictures of me doing it but I hope everyone knows how to rip holes in their jeans, there's many tutorials on Youtube.

So that's it really, I'm back with the outside OOTDs, I'd really love feedback on whether you prefer the bedroom ones or the outside ones!

Thanks for reading guys!

What's New In Jess' . . . Closet? | Blue Suede Courts

Hello my lovelies,

I've got a new addition to the family. These amazing cobalt blue, suede court heels. Now before I tell you where I got them from and how much they were. Let me tell you my little situation before I came across these shoes.

I had been on a search for some nude patent court heels for a very long time and I finally found a pair. I didn't try them on in the shop so I bought them I took them home. As soon as I got home I tried them on, I wasn't in love. A couple of days later, I took them back and looked for something to exchange them with because I did actually want a new pair of heels.

So I was walking through the aisle of shoes and it was pretty neat and tidy, that's what I love about morning shopping trips. These blue shoes jumped at me, they had nude ones but they didn't speak to me, I snapped up the blue shoes and I ran (walked very fast, I was supposed to be on my way to college) to customers service and it was quick and easy exchange, for once!

Now from little story, you'll probably be able to guess where I got these amazing heels from. They were from  the oh so, I've become amazing, Primark! I must tell you guys, (like I always do) Primark have stepped up their game, like for real!
Now the price, the nude shoes were £10 and because I was in a rush, I picked up the blue ones and I didn't look at the price when running to customer services, when the lovely lady handed me back a pound, I was like no way. I was in shock that such amazing shoes were only £9.

I feel like going back to get the nude pair but I really want patent ones so gotta behave and not buy things unnecessarily (haha, this is a first).

So my search for nude patent courts is not  over but I've gained another pair for a great price.

What do you guys think? Amazing shoes or nah?

Head to Primark, they are doing it right now!

Jesslyn

My First Collection | Assessment

Hey everyone,

If you missed my first post about my collection , check it out because it explains everything a bit more than in this post.

Well, on Thursday it's my assessment and only two out of the four outfits will be assessed. I'm very happy about that because the pressure to get 4 outfits done would've killed me!

I managed to completely hand sew the lining/jacket hem of both the jackets I'll be showing for assessment. I'm very proud that I managed to make a jacket from scratch for the first time and it looks very profesh!

My collection is based on the jackets so I definitely wanted to show my two black ones. I also decided to have leggings for the bottom half and I'm actually dying a pair.

I'm pretty excited for the whole collection and fashion show experience. I've ordered my snapbacks and I'm going out on Wednesday to buy shoes and the leggings for the show. The styling, hair and make up, the show and the photoshoot for the catalogue is what I'm so looking forward to. I'm loving the whole experience to be honest.

I must say I was stuck on the whole theme thing and where I wanted to take my collection but after watching a few (or more!) episodes of Project Runway and also being inspired by some bloggers and the trends, I managed to squeeze something out.

I know many people think that studying Fashion is the easy way out but seriously don't be deceived. It's not just the designing, you've got to make your own patterns, source fabrics, know different seams, be able to transform your 2D drawings into a 3D garment, it's crazy.
Anyone that studies fashion will understand what I'm on about and will agree.
The glamorous looks on the catwalk have been through hell and back before they reach that beautiful stage.

In my attempt to put you all of from studying fashion, I hope you enjoyed the insight into my first collection, I'll try and squash in two more posts, one that's based on the styling and the other about the show so keep your eyes peeled!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask away and thanks for reading!

What's New In Jess' . . . Closet? | Birkenstocks, Primark Dupe

Sandals Primark £4

Hey everyone,

As said in a previous post, I took an accidental trip to Primark and I bought a few things even though I was tempted to buy much more.

When I went in, I knew there was one thing I really wanted. These black patent birkenstocks dupes. I originally wanted the Birkenstocks from ASOS but they were hella expensive for sandals even though they are, apparently, good quality. Anyway I wasn't willing to pay £40 for sandals so when I went into Primark and saw these, I was over the moon!

Being only 10% of the price of the originals, there was no way I could leave them hanging there.
I can't wait to wear them, I'm not a fan of feet/sandals but I can make these work and hopefully if I go on holiday this year, I'll make good use of them!

What have any of you picked up from Primark lately? They have some amazing bits in right now, they have definitely stepped up their game (and their prices to be honest!). If you want some summer essentials, head to Primark ASAP!

Current Favourites | Beauty

Hey guys,

I know, I've been absent for nearly a week! I had posts planned but I never got round to writing them up. All my time and energy has gone into completing two outfits for my assessment next week, I finally have my jackets lined and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. If you want to read my 'First Collection Update' post, feel free to check it out!

Well, onto the post!
I've wanted to do a current favourites post for a while now but my favourites kept on changing and some things I liked, I hated a few days later. So in this post I'm going to be talking about my current favouriites that use literally everyday or every day I want to wear make up.
I'd love to know what all your current favourites are so let me know what you're loving too.

First up is MUA's Pro Base Concealer Kit. I love this thing, around 2 years ago, I came across it and I actually bought the smaller version of it. I use it to concealer under my eyes and highlight my nose, chin and forehead. I always apply it over my foundation because I feel it looks better but that's just how do it and it works for me. I think it was around £5 or £6 and smaller one was either £3 or £4. I love the consistency and the coverage.

Next is the Real Techniques Buffing Brush. I know most people love the RT brushes, they are amazing, no doubt. However, everyone has a favourite and my so happens to be the Buffing Brush. I use it to apply liquid foundation which I think is how most people use it. I love the way it buffs in my foundation and makes my skin look flawless. I do get lovely comments from you all about how flawless my skin looks and it's thanks to this brush and my skincare routine.

This is MUA's Pro Base Primer. It was bought for me around Christmas time and I've been using it daily ever since. Being someone that has a oily T-Zone, I just apply it to my problem area and it helps my make up stick to my face. I notice when I forget to apply it on 'those' days, my face is noticeably more oily and my make up slides like crazy. MUA's Pro Base range is actually quite good, I'd recommend it to anyone that's look for good base products for cheap, cheap.

Another MUA product, the Colour Blast Eyeshadow Tint. This is probably my top favourite product after eyebrow pencil. It makes eyeshadow application and quick and easy process. On those days that I just can't be asked to do whole blending shenanigan (bad blogger, I know!) I just wack this on with my finger and voila! It was around £3 which is such a bargain.

And lastly, Carmex!
Who doesn't love a little bit of Carmex (or a lot of). I use it all time, before I go to bed, before I apply my lipstick and when lips are generally dry.
It does burn sometimes but to me, that means it's working. It moisturises my lips, prevents them from cracking and to be honest, who wants dry lips.
Everyone needs Carmex and Vaseline in their lives.

So these are my current beauty favourites.
Hope everyone's well and is loving the sun (or the rain haha)

Thanks for reading!

May Lust List 2014

Hey guys,

Woohoo, we're technically in the Summer season even though it may not feel like it!

I'm so excited, June is going to be a crazy month, I have to make a 4 piece collection, make my sister's prom dress (bricking it!) and it's my last month at college, yay!

I've been lusting over a crazy amount of things this season. There was a time I wasn't really following the trends and hardcore shopping didn't appeal to me but wow, right now, I'm itching to shop. I even did a mid May lust list if you want to check it out, I never do a mid month lust list but there's just been too much I've been loving!

Pastel colours are in and I'm glad they are, they're my favourite type of colours. I'd love to wear pastel colours head to toe but I guess that's a bit overboard.

So as you can probably tell my lust list this month is going to be a pastel-y one!

I'll start off with accessories!
I can't wait to talk about this one, the pastel blue pointed court heels. ASOS is my favourite place to browse at the moment, their sale is amazing, their trend section is amazing and it's making shopaholics like me want to shop like crazy. Anyway, I love the cutouts in these heels, I don't have anything like these among other shoes and the colour (of course!) is gorgeous!
Next is the round frame sunglasses from New Look! I love black sunglasses that have gold accents and these ones are needed.
Lastly, is a beautiful box clutch also from New Look, and yes it's pastel blue! Box clutches are all the hype right now and I must say I love them too. They're so classy looking and can make a casual outfit look dressed up by just simply slinging it over your shoulder!

Now for the threads!
I've seen quite a few tops that have splits on the sides and I love a bit of skin showing but not too much, you know what I mean girls! Topshop have a variety but I fell in love with the palm leaf print one, I've planned outfits already. Some boyfriend jeans, gold chain, nude court heels and a neon clutch, perfect for a Summer night out.
And last but not least, a midi skater skirt. I love skater skirts and I love midi skirts but when they're combined, you can't help but fall in love with them. I saw Jennie AKA BeautybyJJ on Youtube styling midi skirts and I really liked the bright green one. So I went on a virtual hunt for midi skirts and found an amazing one on ASOS, lilac of course!

Writing this post has made me so excited about Summer shopping, I've bought quite a few things already for my birthday and for the Summer holidays but I want  need more.

What have you all been lusting over? Anyone going on holiday and have their eye on some holiday bits?
I'd love to know!

Thanks for reading,
Jesslyn x
