2015, here I come!

Here we are, last day of 2014, about to open up the first page of a fresh book and I must say I'm so excited to be closing the last page of my 2014 book.

2014 has been a big year for me, I turned the big 1-8 in July which you guys probably know I was super excited about.
I created my first collection at college and that was an experience and a half. It was such a big thing for me as an aspiring designer to be able to know what it feels like to have my collection walk down a runway.
One of the biggest things that happened this year is that I started my fashion design degree.
It was such a huge achievement for me because I went through a phase where I thought I wasn't good enough to be able to be accepted into uni.
Interviews, especially within the fashion industry, seems so intimidating and can be, if you're not confident about yourself and your work.
Before I ramble on, I got into uni to study a fashion design degree and I'm super proud of myself because I've managed to accomplish a goal and move up a step in terms of my future.
If you guys want any tips on interviews, portfolio or just my general experience, please let me know, I'd be more than happy to share them with you!

Uni has been one hell of journey, I've got three months left and I'm so looking forward to the future projects until I get my super long break. I'm probably going to do an internship during my break but I'm not sure yet!

Wow, when I look back at how fast 2014 went and how fast I'm growing up, it just makes me realise that time waits for no man.

I want to get as much done as I can in 2015, I think it's going to be a year of 'DO'.

I really want to get my driving license before I turn 19, that's my main goal of the year, my birthday's in July, so I've got seven months, hopefully I pass so I can start saving for a car!
I want to travel at least twice, not sure where to, but I definitely want to.
Also, I'm going to be taking my blog more seriously, 2014 was a great year for my blog and I'm so looking forward to sharing better content with you guys.
Lastly, I must up my game in the fashion industry during 2015, this is my year to shine as a fashion designer haha

There's other itty bitty goals I've set for myself and really want to achieve them.
Every year I set myself goals and make new year's resolution but I slack by the end of January, I really want to make 2015 different.

I'm so looking forward to a new year, I hope everyone is too. Even if 2014 was a crappy one, it's time for a fresh start!

Thanks for reading FashionSquash this year, I really appreciate everyone's love and support.
I will continue to strive to be a better person and work hard in everything I do!

Happy New Year guys, open the fresh book of 2015 and write away!

NEW NAILS

Hey guys,

Hope everyone had an amazing Christmas!
Boxing Day and days after until New Year's are usually my chill days and/or days to visit family.

Obviously, for Christmas, I had to get a fresh set of acrylics done.
I decided to stay with stiletto shape but I've decided that my next refill I'd change them to coffin shape.

I did what I usually do, in terms of design, I got all my nails painted in full and then did a leopard design on two fingers on each hand. A thumb is not a finger so on my thumb I got the design in a moon shape unlike the other three that were had leopard design all over.

Purple's my favourite colour and usually go for lilac on the nails but I prefer dark colours mainly because they compliment my skin tone quite well.
So this time, I decide to go for a very deep purple by Colour Club, I haven't actually seen this nail polish brand any other place than my nail shop so I decided I'd go with a brand I hadn't used before to see how it holds. I must say, it's doing better than most after all that Christmas cooking!

I'm going to enjoy having really long nails before starting uni again in the new year.
Picking up pins with these are not easy!
Might do a little practice because I love long nails and don't really want to have to cut them down shorter.

I'm excited to try a new shape so I'm looking forward to my next trip to the nail shop!

Hope everyone's having a relaxing Christmas break and you're all well,

Jesslyn x

Merry Christmas Eve everyone!

I'm like a little kid today, so excited for Christmas tomorrow.
Gifts are wrapped, food is being prepped and everyone around me is in the festive spirit.

I thought I'd show you guys a quick make up look that you could use over the festive period.

I love a good glittery eye or a red lip for this time of the year however when you're over at grandma's, sometimes you don't really feel to put on all that extra glitz and glam.
Let me know what you're opinions are, do you go all out for Christmas?

This is quite a nude look in general but you could always add a "pop of colour" on the lip or a brighter blush, it's all up to you.
I personally love the nude look because you can easily do up your hair or wear a cute dress without looking overdone.

I love this MAC lipglass, it's so pigmented, it definitely adds something to the lips even though it's not a bold red or dark purple.
A smokey eye is a must, it's subtle but it looks like you've made an effort.

I love this combination in general, it's great for the everyday look or can be easily dressed up for a night out or a night in with family at Christmas!

What do you guys think, do you prefer more glitz or a subtle look?
I'd love to know!

Once again, Merry Christmas Eve guys, hope you're having an amazing  and fun filled day!

OOTD | Lion in the Wild

Primark Boyfriend tee | Primark Men's Joggers | River Island Quilted Jacket (old)
Nike High Top Capri's | eBay Bag

Hey everyone,

Just a quick OOTD for you today, I was headed to the nail shop with my sister and we decided to snap a few shots.
As you guys can see, my hair is absolutely massive and I got a million and one stares.
The bigger the hair, the more they stare, right?

I went  pretty casual for this outfit, these joggers are so comfy and warm, they've become a regular lately.
They were only a fiver so I picked up two and I really want a few more so I can chop and change. They are actually men's joggers but they fit great, I'm wearing an XS which is perfect for me because I'm only 5ft3 and any bigger would've drown me haha

The jacket I'm wearing is actually my sister's, she seems to have had a growth spurt and nothing fits, she's hitting 5ft7 which is so weird because she's actually two years younger.
But anyways, I love this jacket, the colour and the fit, flattering!

I obviously have my favourite type of shoes on, trainers, to finish off the look!

What are your errand outfits like? Do you stay casual or do you try to 'dress up'?
Everyone's different so it'd be interesting to know what people love to throw on!

Thanks for reading and hope you're all looking forward to Christmas Eve tomorrow,

Jesslyn

New Hair

Hey guys,

I'm back to blogging and I thought I'd kick start my return with a hair update!

I've become someone that loves to change their hair and experiment with different styles often and with the help of weave I can do all that experimenting without damaging my natural hair.

For this wild hairstyle, I decided to do the crochet braid technique, there's many tutorials on Youtube if want to try it out. I used marley hair and did a blonde colour in back and mixed black and brown throughout the whole head, also with a few blonde highlights.
Definitely check out my IG (@jesslynrobert) because I've posted a few pictures with this hairstyle.

I'm not going to lie, when I first did my hair, it was huge, as I brushed it out, it got bigger and bigger but after about a week, the hair started to thin out because of the excessive brushing. I used three packets so I should've expected it to be big.

I've loved this hairstyle so far, I've had so many compliments from people I know and strangers on the street. Several of my uni teachers asked if it was my real hair, even people I knew were asking if it was. I honestly couldn't take them seriously haha

What do you guys think of this hair? You like?
I'm going to be changing my hair very soon so make sure you stay tuned for my next hair update, it's going to be excited, especially for weave-lovers!

Thanks for reading and I hope you're preparing for the festive season,

Jesslyn xo

I'M BACK!

Hey everyone!

Yes, you read the title right, I'm officially back to blogging.
I took a well deserved and needed break, I actually took a longer break than I expected to, every time I thought about coming back onto the blog scene, I just felt I wasn't ready and didn't have the time to put up good content.
So instead of throwing out rushed content that I didn't really put any heart and thought into, I just carried on with my break.

Uni has been a ride and a half, the workload is ridiculous, I'm doing 4 different modules at the moment so my brain's all over the place. However, in the next 3-4 months, I will be free!
I've already started planning what I want to do during my 6 month 'Summer' break, I'm excited but I have to get all this work done first.

I've explored quite a bit during my time at uni so far, I've become a London Underground girl, I used to absolutely hate trains but I'm learning to like them. I just hate the idea of being trapped underground with over 100 strangers.
I've found some amazing fabric stores lately, thanks to Uni, I've found great places to get fabric for future projects.

Also, you guys wouldn't believe that I've become a gym rat! I love the gym at the moment, I joined my uni one and I love the atmosphere there. I've been working on my core strength, toning my arms, back, butt and legs.
I've never really been a fitness person but I'm enjoying it and don't see myself giving up on it any time soon, I'm seeing results and liking it!

Lastly, I just wanted to let you guys know of my blogging schedule, I will start off nice and easy to help me ease myself back in. So there will be a post up every 2 days so that's 3-4 posts a week.
A post should be up every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.

Hope everyone's looking forward to the FashionSquash comeback, I know I'm excited to be back!
Have a great end to the weekend and a great start to the week.

Thanks for reading,

Blogging Break?

Hello everyone!

As you guys can tell from the title, I've decided that I should take a blogging break.
I've actually forced myself to, I didn't want to but my heart told me I should.

For the past week, I haven't really loved blogging as much as I used to mainly because I feel like I have to post.
Since I've come back from Berlin, there's been this pressure to put up posts. The posts I put up weren't consistent, I firmly believe in good content so I didn't consistently post.
It's got to that point where consistency is non-existent so it's better if I take a break.

I've never really taken a proper break from blogging and personally, I think I deserve one.
I've just started uni and it's taking over my life, I have no time for myself and the pressure to blog is stressing me out.

I don't want to ramble too much because I hate to dwell on a negative.
I'll be back in the next two weeks and there may be a few posts dotted here and there within my break but I'm not making any promises.

Hopefully, I'll be back all refreshed and bursting with ideas.
I hope you guys can understand where I'm coming from and bear with me for the next two weeks.

Thanks for supporting me and feel free to read my recent hauls, reviews and OOTD's!

OOTD | Ribbed Crop Top

Ribbed Crop Top (made by me) | Jeans Primark
Jacket Primark | Bag eBay | Scarf  (fabric sourced by me)
Jelly Loafers eBay | Casio Watch The Watch Hut*

Hey guys,

It's been ages since I've posted an OOTD, going to Berlin messed up my routine and then I was thrown straight back into the uni life so I haven't really had time to focus on my outfits.
However, I do post bits and bobs on Instagram so make sure you follow me on there or my design account if you're more interested in my design life!

This outfit is my favourite A/W outfit yet! I went ahead and put my design and sewing skills to the test and made this ribbed crop top.
I went fabric shopping for uni and fell in love with this ribbed cotton and I knew exactly what I wanted to make with it. . . a crop top!

I made it in under 2 hours and couldn't wait to wear it the next day.

I styled it with a pair of high waisted jeans, my boyfriend coat and a pair of jelly loafers that I'd recently bought.

Now, my scarf.
Whilst on my fabric hunt, I found this amazing Burberry-esque wool and I couldn't leave it behind!
So I bought a metre and voila, I had myself a new scarf. I didn't bother cutting it because I liked how blanket-like it was.
I love how neutral it is, making it easy to wear it with anything, you'll be seeing much more it!

As you guys read, I'm actually making some more ribbed crop tops in different colours so you guys definitely keep your eyes peeled for that. I have quite a few outfits planned for A/W so I might do a lookbook soon but for now enjoy the OOTD's on here and IG!

So that's it for now, hope you're all well and having a great start to the week.
Thanks for reading,

Jesslyn

Hey everyone,

It feels like ages since I last blogged so I thought I'd come back with a haul for you guys!

I've been shopping non-stop, I really don't know why, it just feels like the season to shop.
I'm actually going on a spending ban for the month of November but I'll update you guys on my plans nearer the time.

There's so much out there that's catching my eye so yes, I can't stop shopping and you guys get to see the evidence of my addiction!

I think I'll start of with Primark because that's where I got most of my bits and bobs!
I've been a ridiculous amount of muscle tees, I've joined a new gym and I'm obsessed with muscle tees as my gym wear so I've gone ahead and bought a few. I also bought one from H&M because how basic it looked.
Primark have quite a few on sale so I made it my mission to buy most of them.

I also bought a new towel and face cloths for the gym, I wouldn't want to use ones from home so I bought new ones just to keep inside my gym bag.
Speaking of gym bag, there were backpacks on sale in Primark so I managed to bag (no pun intended) this one for £5!

I bought a few miscellaneous bits too!
I needed some new earrings that I could just throw on so I bought a six pack of three different metals so I can chop and change on a daily basis.
I also bought a hand warmer which was quite cute and I picked it up whilst I was in the queue, I thought it was interesting idea so I'll putting it to the test this A/W.
I broke my sunglasses whilst in Berlin so I picked up a new pair and and some new socks to wear for the gym.

Now for eBay, I ordered some things for uni. I really needed Promarkers to design with (check out my design IG) so I went ahead and spent a little money on them.
I always bought a pair of snips to add to my sewing tools and some photo mount spray!

For beauty, I went to Beauty Base to pick up some LA Colors products, I love LA Colors so I definitely needed a few bits when I went to Westfield.
I also picked up two blushers, one from MUA and the other from Make Up Revolution, they're both a coral shade, I'm really loving coral blushers at the moment so it was great that I could pick these ones up for £1!

Lastly are gym bits, I was browsing on Sports Direct because I needed some trainers (yes, another pair!) and some sports bra so I eventually found some and I'm in love with them!
I went for grey as my main colour as I wanted a neutral that I could mix and match and didn't really want to go for black.
I definitely want to buy the sports bras and crop tops in opposite colours because I love the way they fit and I want more to have so I can switch it up!

So that's my collective haul for you guys, I'm pretty sure there's more stuff I've missed out and you guys can be sure you'll see another haul before my November spending ban.

Thanks for reading and I hope I've inspired you to shop (unless you're trying not to!) haha
Hope you're all good,

Jesslyn x

Berlin | Day 2

*beware, this post is picture heavy!

Hi guys!

This part/day 2 of my Berlin trip. If you want to see Day 1 or Jylle Navarro's show, just click away!

The second of my trip was a tourist day, me and my mum went to as many places as we could. I think we managed to go to seven different towns and we saw so much!

We woke up and headed straight to breakfast, breakfast was pretty plain but we didn't mind because we were only there for two days. We took it back to our room so we could get ready at the same time,.
The picture with my mum struggling with her handbag is a prime example of why you don't buy mums designer bags haha

The first place we headed to was Bernaur Straße to see the Berlin Mauer (Berlin Wall), it was so cool to see it real life as opposed to pictures. We also told that the wall only ran through Berlin so there was an east side and west side and then the whole of Germany was split. The east side of Berlin behaved life the east side of Germany and vice versa.

The second place we went to was Alexanderplatz, I loved it there. There was a market, some people were selling food, some were selling fur clothing (which was a bit freaky), there was also shops.
It wouldn't be right as a blogger if I didn't spot a Primark in another country!

After Alexanderplarz where I broke my sunglasses (I was soooo upset!) we we headed to Stadmitte and Friedenstraße which seemed to be the more posher towns.
There we so many catherdrals and galleries, they were so beautiful!

Next stop was Yorkstrasse which was actually an accident we didn't explore this town mainly because we were in the middle of nowhere as we looked left and right, it's like we waited for tumbleweed to roll past. We ran back to the train platform to get back to Bradenburg.

Bradenburg Tor. is where the amazing Bradenburg gate was. It was massive and it was so great that we bumped into a festival happening. People were dressed up in traditional German outfits, there were concerts, food, drinks, all sorts!

After a long day, we headed back to the hotel and chilled for an hour or so and then got up headed to Viktoriapark, it was pitch black by the time we got there but it was worth going to see it.

On our way back we picked up some pizza, a pepperoni one and a vegetable one. Surprisingly, the vegetable one was really nice after I begged my mum not to get it.

The morning of our flight, we had an early breakfast (before they'd even opened up, thankfully they let us!) sat in the lounge for a bit and then we went to the station to do one last train ticket validation!

So that was my time in Berlin, there was and is so much to see.
I plan to go back, probably with my sister next time, I loved it there even though I was only there for a few days.

Hope you guys enjoyed my Berlin series, hopefully there will be more travels to come in the near future!

Thanks for reading,
Jesslyn
