Interning with Jylle Navarro | Day 9 & 10

Hey guys,

Interning's going great at the moment, I'm learning quite a bit and getting in touch with my creative side.
If you want to check out my other internship posts, click here.
Below is day 9 and 10 so enjoy reading and gazing at the colourful pictures!

Day 9

Today was a day of finishing of hair accessories. I tried out a new type of pom pom, which I must say, took some time and mentally drained me but it was amazing to see the final piece.

It's so cool that we start out with an idea and then over a few days, we build on it and it's crazier and crazier.
That's the great thing about being someone that creates things, no idea is too big!

Day 10

Today seemed to be a day of trial and error.
We were working on a new piece today so I made some components for it.

It was a very interesting day, everything seemed to be coming to life. As someone that wants to become a designer, seeing your designs come to life is the best thing ever!

So that was day 9 and 10, I apologise for not being able to show you guys full pieces.
Nothing's being shown until after the fashion show so definitely keep a look out for pictures from the show.

Thanks for reading!

Interning with Jylle Navarro | Day 6, 7 & 8

Hey guys,

I've got day 6, 7 & 8 for you!
Interning with Jylle is so inspirational, she has so many ideas, it's unbelievable! I thought I was creative, wow.
Working with someone who is so creative is great, it inspires you to open up your mind and see things from a different perspective.
I've been designing non stop for the past couple of days because there's so much creativity and inspiration buzzing around in my head.

Anywho, enough rambling!
Onto the post . . .

Day 6

Day 6 was another day of pom poms. I was on a roll, they're so small but take so much time.
I love being able to create unique pieces that will make a bigger piece stand out. I can't wait to see these pom poms on the final garments.
Oh and are you lucky enough to have a boss that allows you to play Candy Crush whilst working?
Didn't think so haha

Day 7

Today was a bit different.
I started a new task of accessories. Knitted accessories. There's not much to say but I'll definitely update you guys in my next post!
I did this over the course of day 7 and half of day 8.

Day 8
Unfortunately, I was so busy that I actually forgot to take pictures.

As I said before I finished off some knitted accessories and then two stylists came in to the studio to borrow some pieces for a photoshoot.
It was so intriguing to see how stylists interact with designers.
Hopefully when I'm a designer, I can make great relationships with the amazing stylists out there!

So that was day 6, 7 & 8 of interning with Jylle Navarro!

Any questions? Feel free to ask them!

Interning with Jylle Navarro | Day 4 & 5

Hey guys!

I have day 4 & 5 of my internship for you all!
I didn't do much on day 4 and I also didn't take many pictures either so it wasn't worth doing a post.
So I've put the days together, read on to know what I got up to!

Day 4

It was pretty laid back, me and Jen (my fellow intern!) were finishing off a piece that we'd started the week before.
We had already made a tassel so we knew what to do and we just tried to get it done which ended up taking the whole day.
I'm also on a water detox to help clear my skin so my water bottle has been my bestie!

In the picture above, you can see me making a twist, this was one of 20! They take ages to make but you get quicker after you've made about 10!

That's all day 4 consisted of, I'm glad we've got it done.

Day 5

Because we got the tassels done, it was time to move onto something else.
Jen wasn't in because she went in on Tuesday and I chose to go in on the Wednesday.

This day was a pom pom making day!

I never knew so much work went into something so small.
I did have fun making them, spending so long on one pom pom was so rewarding when it was finished.
I love how they look, I'd love to have some hung up in my room!
They're so easy to make but they take time and the amazing thing about each one is that they're all different (unless you make them the same!)

So that was day 5, I'm having so much fun working with Jylle and Jen!
Stay tuned for more and don't forget to check out Jylle's website!

Interning with Jylle Navarro | Day 3

Hey guys,

Day 3.

I must say, I was super tired at the end of the day. I've learnt my lesson, go to bed on time!

Today was a bit of a chill day, I twisted some yarn, well, I spent the day twisting yarn, my back killed and I was just exhausted.
I work with another intern named Jen,, yeah, there's a lot of 'J's in the house. She's so lovely and her and Jylle both give great advice!

I wore my favourite jeans that I DIY'd, they look so amazing on. I've been loving the ripped jeans trend but I hate the fact that everyone has the same ones on so I took to DIY and voila! There's rips on the back too!

I also threw on my Topshop Fur Skater shoes, I love the way they amp up my outfits. However, they are really hard to break in, I've worn them about 3 times and they're just starting to get comfy.

So that's it for day 3, not that exciting but I'm learning so much, stay tuned for more!

Make sure you guys like Jylle's Facebook page (I'm featured on there!) and follow her on Twitter/Instagram!

Interning with Jylle Navarro | Day 2

Hi guys,

Day 2 of interning with Jylle Navarro, I was definitely in my zone.

Jylle said I could go through her old collection and sort them into piles, take pictures, instagram, try things on. I was like, oh hell yes!

I've never seen so many unique pieces in one room, I think I handled about 80 pieces and each one was unique.
There will be a sample sale during the Summer so I just helped put things into piles so they'd be easier to put out when needed.
I took some pictures for Instagram and the blog, obviously.

Jylle even generously said I could have any top from the pile, I tried one on (along with 5 pieces I just had to try!) and I fell in love with it and didn't take it off.
I took some pictures of me wearing it but that will be in another post in the near future!

I really enjoyed my 2nd day, I had so much fun as you can see in the picture of me grinning. It made me realise that running your own line isn't easy and you always needs extra hands as a designer.
I've never really thought about promotion, sample sales, how many garments you have to make in order to sell, it was just really eye-opening.

I'm having fun interning, can't wait to continue throughout the Summer! If you want to ask me/Jylle any questions, feel free to email me/tweet me!

Make sure you guys show Jylle some love and like her Facebook page (I'm featured on there!) and follow her on Twitter/Instagram!

Interning with Jylle Navarro | Day 1

Hi guys,

If you all saw me getting excited yesterday on Twitter, you'd know that I bagged myself a little Summer internship!

I'm going to be interning with Jylle Navarro, she's an amazing knitwear designer based in London.

I love her studio, so inspiring and definitely a space where you can disappear and be in your own little world.
Well, this is going to be my third home for the Summer and I'm super excited.

For the first day, I was weaving, pretty simple but you always learn something new even if it's simple and you've done it before. It also seemed to be a little bit of a challenge with acrylic nails on but by the end, I figured out the best way to do it.

It's really fun to be working for a designer, I aspire to be one and it's really cool to see the process from start to finish!
I'll definitely try and take more pictures, it completely slipped my mind to actually take pictures!

Make sure you guys show Jylle some love and like her Facebook page and follow her on Twitter!

Thanks for reading,
Jesslyn
