Time for Dr Martens

It's never too early (in my eyes) to whip out your Winter boots, I'm not a fan of being cold, my feet and head must be warm at all times so it's no surprise that I'm already sporting my Dr Martens. My manager was shocked (and quite amused) to see me wearing my UGGs to work one September morning.
If my feet are warm then I'm a happy girl!

I love my docs, they're perfect, they look good but also feel good. They can feel heavy when you first start wearing them but you eventually get used to them. I drove to work in them for the first time last week and I found my self pressing the pedals quite firmly not realising how heavy they were. After a couple drives, I got used to the pressure I'm supposed to apply. I'm quite a confident driver so it didn't put me off wearing them to drive, plus my feet were extra cosy so win-win.

These are my go-to at the moment, what are your go-to A/W shoes? Are you like me and are whipping out the heavy duty boots or are you waiting a bit for 'real Winter'?

3 Rules to a Simple, Slaying Outfit

I'm that person that panics when invited to an event because 'I have no clothes', goes around the whole London looking for an outfit and then settles for the simplest outfit.

Simple is best.

Less is more.

Always works for me, I just stress myself out trying to be extra when there's no need.

I go by these 3 basic rules:

ONE GARMENT

When you have no idea what to wear, stick to looking for one garment, whether it be a dress, a jumpsuit or a playsuit. It makes life so much easier, you don't have to worry about what will go with what and once you have found 'the one', the task is over!

PRINT OR BLACK

I have found what when I'm struggling to look for an outfit, I either go for something printed or I just opt for black. You cannot go wrong with black, ever.
A printed piece is perfect because it speaks for itself, you don't need anything to 'jazz' up the outfit, a simple pair of heels (or kicks) and minimal jewelery will do.
Black is great too because everything goes with black, you can easily pair any shoe and a fancy clutch with it and you're good to go.

STWYK (stick to what you know!)

For me, this is the most important rule. When you're short of time to find an outfit, experimenting with fits and shapes you're not familiar with is a no-no. Sitck to what you know suits you and you know you're comfortable wearing. It makes the shopping experience easier and stress-free.

I'm wearing

PRIMARK Dress
PRIMARK (old) Cobalt Heels (alternative)
Sparkly Hoops (alternative 1 / 2)
CASIO Watch

Hope you'll remember these rules next time you're shopping for an outfit under pressure (or not haha)!

Kicking Off Party Season with Boohoo*

*This post contains gifted items by Boohoo, all views/opinions/experiences expressed within the post are all my own

I'm excited to introduce a new face onto FashionSquash today and it belongs to my beloved sister, Alexandria. If you are subscribed to our channel, you'd know her fairly well but if not, this is the bestie, get to know!
We've teamed up with Boohoo today to share our ultimate party season outfits. Halloween is done and dusted and all we can think about is how Christmas is around the corner.
After Halloween comes Thanksgiving (for the US) and Christmas parties and it's only right to have a few dresses (or jumpsuits because . . . Winter!) stocked up, especially LBD's  as you can never go wrong.

Me and my sister have been loving the off shoulder trend lately, it's so sassy and adds that extra glamour to a simple LBD. The frills on my dress added the vavavoom and the split on my sister's added that spice! All eyes on us during this party season, me and my sis love to slay together, the endless "yassss's" when shooting outfits is hilarious but why not!

You have to subscribe to our Youtube channel, Alexandria & Jesslyn, the laughs you're gonna get from our videos is so worth checking them out.
Also make sure you check out Boohoo and stock up on your party season outfits, be ready for the Christmas cheer!

Hope you guys have enjoyed seeing my sister's beautiful face here on FashionSquash, I'll try and get her on here more often!

Jesslyn Robert | Faux Fur Gilet

There is this new found confidence when you wear something that you've designed, knowing you can sport something that you've worked on is such a good feeling.

As promised, I'm featuring some Jesslyn Robert pieces on FashionSquash. I never get round to shooting what I've designed and I think it's time that I did share that side of my life on here and make it a habit or a routine of shooting my garms.
I've made many a jacket and Winter is around the corner and I enjoy constructing jackets and coats so I'm looking forward to sharing them with you all.

I've kicked it off with something simple, a faux fur gilet. It was super quick to make and I'm surprised I hadn't made one sooner. I bought the fur a while ago, with not having a clue on what I'd use it for, I just loved the colour and the feel of it. Towards the end of the Summer, I said I'd use this fur because the fabric collection was becoming unbearable so with that, I produced a lovely gilet.

People have asked me if I could make them one and to be honest, I'd love to however I won't be mass producing. I'm a perfectionist so I really want all aspects on my brand to be up and ready to take on customers. If you really (really) want me to make you a fur gilet or anything else I post, just drop me an email at jesslyn_robert@hotmail.co.uk.

Gone with the Wind

September is always the month that confuses us. We're preparing for Autumn wanting to whip the knits but we're still getting sunshine and humid days. Many of us probably aren't complaining, I mean who doesn't love good weather but most of you are back to work and those uniforms are not the one in the heat. School kids are feeling it right now, the blazer with the jumper underneath . . . torture!

I'm one of the lucky ones that can dress according to the weather, so if the sun's shining, best believe the toes are coming out.
I'm surprised I didn't whip out this split tee earlier in the Summer but to be honest I've been in gym gear most of the Summer. I bought it online from Bershka back when I bought my camel biker jacket a while ago. Khaki is in still so why not throw it on, now Autumn is approaching, it'll be great for layering up too.

Are you one of the ones that can dress according to the weather or are you confused just wanting to whip out Winter boots? Let me know!

Joggers x Heels Combo

Joggers. jogging bottoms, tracksuit bottoms, whatever you call them, aren't usually an item you'd associate with heels. I didn't until I started seeing it on IG and I actually liked the look.
Me being that girl that loves comfort, I was pretty excited to switch up the kicks for some heels so here we are.
I found these joggers, they're pretty basic, the whole outfit is laid back and casual to be honest, it's the heels that amp it up.
I think this kind of outfit is great for lunch dates, you want to look cute and sassy but still chill.
I quite like it, on the hunt for some camo joggers now, I'm in my element!

What do you guys think about the joggers and heels combo? Yay or nay?

#20onthe20th

I turned 20!
No longer part of the teenage crew *cries*, I was actually shocked at the fact that I was turning 20, it's a new chapter, time to fix up, finish my degree, move out and do all the things big people do.
I'm a big kid so it's going to be interesting and somewhat stressful. I'm looking forward to this new chapter, growing up doesn't mean being boring, I'm still young and have the next 5-10 years to really venture out, find myself and build a future.

I love when my birthday comes around each year because it gives me time to reflect on me and how I've progressed and changed in a year. A lot has since my last birthday, me and my family moved house, I finished the second year of my degree, lost friends, made new ones, grown more confident within myself and overall, just bettered my being.
I'm always one for growing and changing and learning new things and I'm so excited to see what my next year will bring for me.

I had a great birthday, celebrated with ones close to me (vlog will be on my new YouTube channel!), I always get stressed and anxious the week leading up to my birthday but we had so much fun and I'm glad we celebrated the way we did.
We went to Junkyard Golf LDN on Brick Lane, I'd definitely recommend it, we literally laughed the whole night. If you're not a club type person or you're tired of birthday dinners, have a go at golf haha

I love wearing white on my birthday, I did last year also, I think I wore a bralet too!
I don't wear white throughout the year because I'm clumsy so wearing it on my birthday is always special and even if do get dirty, at least I know I had fun!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes across all my social media platforms, I really appreciate it!
Bring on the 20's!

Get Your Summer On

Finally! The UK is seeing some sunshine, being a Summer baby, I always look forward to whipping out the Summer gear and flaunting some skin. You know, get some Vitamin D!
I like to keep it simple, jumpsuits, dresses, playsuits, things you can easily throw on and keep cool whilst doing so.
The only tricky thing about wearing all in ones is using public toilets. . .
Basic, stretchy midi dresses are a must-have in Summer, they're easily styled or not styled at all, just throw them on and go. I'm a trainers or Birkenstocks fan so pretty easy, not too much thought put into it.
I've only got a few weeks left of Summer before I start my placement year, my hustle and grind year before I complete the last year of my degree. I'm looking forward to it, I've been on a Summer break for about 4 months so I'm pretty much ready to get back into routine.
However, I'll keep you guys updated on all that when the time comes, for now, I'm just going to enjoy the rest of my Summer!

Knee Highs

This weather has got us British people so confused, one day it's sunny and everyone gets excited that Summer is coming and then the next day, it's firing down with hailstones.
With the unpredictable weather comes unpredictable outfits, one day you get a Summer OOTD and then next you get a Winter one, I'd call this one a transitional outfit though.

A while back I mentioned the struggle of finding knee high boots when you're 5ft3 and tiny but I eventually found a pair I could get away with and them being reduced from £35 to £17.99, I could hardly say no!

Pretty easy outfit, I love jumper dresses, they're simple to style, can be dressed up with some heels or dressed down with some kicks, just depends on the mood, weather or where you're going.

I do hope the weather warms up soon because I need to wear all the midi dresses I've bought! The years going so fast so hopefully the weather can catch up.

Comfy with the Madden's

Hey guys,

This post is long overdue so let's just crack on!
I bought these Steve Madden Espadrilles a while back (2 months ago to be exact!) and I think it's time I debuted them in an OOTD. I mentioned that they were a bit of a sore break in but after the first wear or so, they're absolutely fine!
I love them, they're such easy shoes to throw on, especially as Summer seems to be creeping up on us in the UK, wearing it with some ripped jeans and a bomber or a cute dress will be the bomb-diggity.

I'm a huge knit fan and this khaki mohair jumper is life but hella itchy! Regardless of the itch, I always chuck it on.
I've had so many compliments on my Bershka biker trousers, they fit amazing, I'm someone that always has a problem with fit (I'm petite lol) and these fit so snug and not to mention, they're super comfortable!

So that's it really, a pretty neutral outfit, new bits and bobs for you guys to see. I know I've been MIA for a bit due to uni taking over my life but I'm done with second year and I have all the time in the world to go to the gym and blog.
I'll definitely do a 'second year at uni experience' post as it was so different to my first and I'll definitely be showing you guys my final pieces too so stay tuned!

OOTD | Bershka Biker X Missguided Midi

You can never go wrong with a black midi dress. I've literally stocked up because you can never have too many and you always need a black dress to go somewhere. If you don't know what to wear, throw on a black dress, style it how you want and you're ready to go. I love how this Missguided one fits, I always struggle to find midis that fit me perfectly and also hem at the right place, this one does just that. It's pretty tight but not uncomfortable, tight so it fits right (lol).
But can we just talk about this camel biker jacket though!
I love Bershka because they never fail when it comes to jackets and coats, my last biker was from there and also my winter coat and I looveee them. I found this beauty online and it so happened to be in the sale £19.99 reduced from £59.99, can you believe it? I can't either. I didn't even think twice, I popped it in the basket with some other bits and it was mine. Just look at how beautiful the hardware is, can't go wrong with some good zips and buckles, against the camel as well, lawd!
I'd been looking for a jacket like this for ages and in this colour but they all seemed to be oversized and I wanted something more fitted and Bershka provided that plus I got a major bargain!
Paired with my snakeskin lace up heels, this outfit speaks for itself when you say less is more.

OOTD | The Bucket Hat

Hey guys,

Finally got round to shooting a OOTD, it's been tough out here, so much to do!
It's been so crazy, trying to settle into a new home along with going to uni and just keeping up with the daily activities and it just feels so good to sit down and properly blog.

I mentioned in a previous post that my sister had found a bucket I'd been hunting for.
I've been wearing it non-stop along with my Adidas cap, it's just such a chic but boyish thing to throw on and it fits in great with my style.

There's nothing more simple than putting on an oversized jumper dress, tights and trainers, so easy to do and especially when you're in a rush or don't know what to wear.
Makes it even easier if it's all black!
Speaking of trainers, these are in fact new kicks that I'll be posting in a new in soon, they're Jordans but I'm not sure of the exact name at this given moment so stay tuned for all the details.

Ooo, let me not forget about this amaaazingg tote bag I'm rocking!
It's actually in the Men's bag section on ASOS so it was literally by luck that I'd found it. I was looking for a bag that could fit an A3 sketchbook in for uni and trust me, it fits that and more.
Think I might do a review or a what's in my bag so you guys can get up close and personal with it!

I can't believe it's the end of February already, time is flying! By Easter, I'll be done with my second year of uni, it's just so crazy to me!
I hope everyone is well and looking forward to Spring because it's literally around the corner haha

OOTD | New Year's Khaki

When the Sun comes out on a Winter's day and you snap up the opportunity to get some great pictures. Yurp, yurp!
I was cold, of course but nothing a good jacket or coat can't fix, Winter hasn't really been showing itself so why not whip out the old arms, eh?
I'm obviously taking khaki into the new year, it's such a neutral colour that I'd never thought about before and I now I want half my wardrobe to be khaki!

My wardrobe is evolving actually, mainly because I've done a huge clear out and now I can see what I really have and what I'd prefer to have more of, I've purchased some amazing knits and basic bits so I'm pretty excited to show you guys.
I'm refining my style so you'll get to see what I'm up to along the way.

I do feel pretty fresh, this is what the start of a new year does to you. I know I said I didn't really want to set goals or resolutions but I might do a few blog ones because there's a few things that I want to improve and it will be nice to share them with you all.
Have you set any resolutions/goals? I'd love to know!
